Boljoon Adventure: Hiking With A Wonderfully Weird Twist
With a never-ending list of places to visit, most of today’s backpackers or travelers don’t like to repeat a destination. Once they hit one of the places on their “bucket list”, they set their sights on another destination, and never look back. And I totally get it, even if that means missing out on local secrets and quaint towns like Boljoon, Cebu. Whether it is setting foot on all the 81 provinces in the Philippines or visiting a ton of foreign countries, it’s, after all, nice to have something that can give you the drive to travel. I, on the other hand, don’t have any goals, when it comes to…

From Sea To Summit: A One-of-a-kind South Cebu Trip
South Cebu is, for me, a splendid mash-up for jaw-dropping wonders and sights. Praised for its striking waterfalls, towering peaks and powdery white-sand beaches, this sought-after tourist and backpacking trail is home to some of Mother Nature’s masterpieces, like the Kawasan Falls and Osmeña Peak. A playground for intrepid travelers like me, South Cebu also offers a multitude of outdoor adventures, from spelunking and hiking to diving. Furthermore, it’s stepped in culture and history, as well as boasts a bevy of tasty culinary treats like the chicharon, lechon and Argao’s famed torta. South Cebu is one of my favorite places to visit in the whole archipelago. Not only does it…

Lately, I, together with the sprightly Team Bang, have been scouring information to catch some of Cebu’s little-known treasures. And, one of our most recent discoveries is the windy and picturesque Ablayan Peak in Boljoon. Our first attempt at Ablayan Peak “Scenic”, “lush” and “breezy” – these were the words used by the lechon manok vendors in Boljoon, as they were describing…

Mount Lanaya: A Pleasant Hike That Helped Beat Energy Gap
Nothing ushers in the New Year and beats a holiday hangover better than a good old fashioned hike up the mountains. After a short hiatus from hiking and weeks of overindulgence, Team Bang is once again back on the track, with a hike to one of the mountains in our never-ending travel wish-list – Mount Lanaya in Alegria, Cebu. While it was a fairly easy climb (we took the easier trail, with time not on our side), it was still a great shock to our system and a fantastic way to start a year with a bang. Of course, it did also help “beat energy gap” by flushing out the…
